·Increased flexibility and range of motion
Have you ever experienced that one amazing assist during a yoga class that takes your pose to the next level? Maybe you felt your hips open-up more than they ever have, or your backbend felt more powerful. Well imagine that feeling combined with massage, and you have thai massage.
What is Thai Massage?
Thai yoga massage has roots dating back over 2500 years ago and is based on Ayurvedic practices, hatha yoga, and Chinese medicine. The philosophy behind Thai yoga massage techniques focuses on energy points called "sen." As the Thai massage therapist stretches the client, she also presses and massages along the sen lines or points. It is excellent for anyone who has an interest in yoga, improving their flexibility, or just wants to experience a new and unique healing technique!
What should I expect?
Thai yoga massage is performed on a mat on the floor with the client dressed in comfortable clothing. Throughout the session, the client and therapist will work together using many different aspects of yoga that promote enhanced healing benefits. A typical full-body session lasts around 90 minutes (but can be tailored to fit your specific needs).
Your therapist will use gentle rocking, palming, twisting, joint and spine mobilization, and assisted yoga stretches during your session. This modality is done with the client positioned on their back, front, side, and sitting cross-legged on the floor. After the session is complete, you will leave the room feeling balanced and more energetic. You will be surprised how restorative just one session can be!
Be prepared to LET GO and RELAX with Thai Massage.
